How to reach?

The Shoolpaneshwar Sanctuary is located in the heart of Narmada district of Gujarat along the banks of the Narmada river and forms the catchment area of the river banks. Being located at such a unique destination it is one of the best spots to view tropical cultivation and animals that thrive in these forests. It also forms the border o Gujarat and Maharashtra and is located in the vicinity of the great Statue of Unity of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel.  It is about 670 km square in size making it the largest sanctuary in Gujarat and one of the largest in the Ghat region. The area experiences very hot summers and normal winters. The sanctuary is also surrounded by Sardar Sarover Dam site area and thus the beauty of the mighty Narmada is a surety.

It is just 180 Kms away from the Vadodra and 160 Kms away from Surat, both having airports. The terrain is undulated and mostly jungle area thus reaching the site is a task and needs timely planning and covering all possibilities in advance.

Things to see in Shoolpaneshwar Wildlife Sanctuary

The sanctuary is majorly located between the Rajpipla Hills an the Dhnmal Hills which makes the area all the forest covered and have mountains and hills of medium adulation varying from 800 to 100 ft high. The sanctuary has a vast lush green forest cover home to some of the most amazing trees and plant life which are a trekker’s paradise specially along the river side.

The gentle water streams are also the home to some beautiful fish and trekeers can enjoy fishing in the calm waters of these rivulets. Some of these trail and join to become fast flowing specially in the monsoons and form multiple waterfall system which are not only breath taking but majestic as well.

Best time to visit Shoolpaneshwar ?

The sanctuary is a tropical forest and thus the weather is very hot in the summers and  in the winters it is mild thus it is almost open throughout the year barring a few of the heavy monsoon months, The roads are open and one can reach eh place from Vadodra and Surat by road. Airports are available at both locations. The most appropriate time to visit the sanctuary is between November and March. During the summer season it is next to impossible to visit as there is searing heat and can be problematic. The monsoon season is also good to visit but due to rains the animal life would not be visible. Overall the sanctuary is a perfect place to spend your week ends which can not only be relaxing but also memories of the lifetime. It is a wonderful get away location for all those who want to have momentarily peace from the busy life of the cities including Mumbai and North of India.
