Establishment:
During the 18th century, earlier the park was established as the Reserve Forest. After that in the year 1949, the park was considered as the Wildlife Sanctuary and finally on January 31, 1994 it was confirmed as the National Park.
Famous for
The best part of the park is you will get to see number of Indian rhinoceros which are not commonly found in all the areas, they are rarely found in some areas of India. The park consists of large numbers of mammals, twenty seven types of fishes, 22 types of reptiles, 194 types of various birds, seven types of turtles and many other wildlifee. The park also consist of Sai forests having trees like:

- Shirish
- Silk cotton tree
- Teak tree and many more.
The common wildlife comes under the category of mammals are found here like:
- Hog deer
- Gaur
- Indian rhinoceros
- Sloth bear
- Asian elephant
- Barking deer
- Wild boar and
- Chital
There are other similar places like Bibhutibhushan and Ramnabagan Wildlife Sanctuary.
Area
The park lies in the Eastern Himalayas which consists of different types of forests and grasslands. The park is surrounded by the rivers namely Brahmaputra river, Murti river, Jaldhaka river and Raidak river. The total area of the park is about 80 km. It is located near the Jaldapara national Park.
How to Reach
It is very near to the Jalpaiguri city at a distance of 45 km. If you want to go by train then you have to reach the Malbazar railway station from where the distance of the park is only 20 km. If you love long drive then you can go by road from Siliguri which is at the distance of 80 km. The closest airport is Bagdogra from where many buses and taxi are available.
Timing:
You can visit throughout the year. But there is an entry and exit time of the park. You can enter into the park after 6:00 AM and explore the park till 5:00 PM, after that the park get closed. The best time to visit the Gorumara National Park is from February to June month.
