History

The beautiful lakes with different kinds of plants and animals are Nalsarovar area. Variety of birds increases the beauty of this area. After that it was declared as a bird sanctuary in April, 1969.

How to Reach

If you want to go by train then you will reach Viramgam which is the nearest railway station from the sanctuary at a distance of 40 km or you can also go from  Ahmedabad which is at the distance of 64 km from the sanctuary. The road is also comfortable to reach the sanctuary. You can choose the option of road and go via bus or taxi which is always available from Ahmedabad, Sanand and Viramgam. The nearest airport you will reach is at Ahmedabad.

Things to See

During monsoon season you get to see here thousand of migratory wildfowl which includes the family members of Anseriformes and members of Anatidae found here including swans, ducks and geese. There is a beautiful lake which attracts the birds and they feed in the lake.

During winter and spring season, tourist will get an opportunities to see various types of birds inclu flamingos, rosy pelicans, brahminy ducks, white storks and many more. You will also take a glimpse of some species of mammals which includes the black buck also known as Indian antelope and wild ass which is locally called as Ghudkhur in Gujarat. There are 225 variety of birds are found here in which 140 birds are water birds and 70 types of migratory birds are seen here.

Area

It spreads over a large area of Ahmedabad city i.e. 120.82 km². It is surrounded by amazing lakes and wetlands. There are few other places to visit like Wilson Hills and Shoolpaneshwar Wildlife Sanctuary however these 02 places are about 411 km and 315 km distance away respectivelty.

Best Time to Visit

As the sanctuary remains open throughout the year but the best season to see the natural beauty of the sanctuary is during winter and spring season. This time the millions of birds of different species visit the park and feed in the lake which increases the beauty of the park.

Timing

If you want to see the best scene of the sanctuary then you have to go either in the early morning or during evening. There is any entry time for the tourists i.e. from 6:00 AM-6:00 PM. If you miss the chance to go in early morning then try not to visit the park during afternoon, wait for the evening because during noon time you will not get to see the beauty of the nature. But make sure that one need at least 3 hours to explore the park so you will go accordingly.
